Join the Crew: Write for SportFishing.com
Think you have the experience and the passion to share your knowledge with the biggest audience in sport fishing?
I’m Captain Sal, and I’m always on the lookout for seasoned, knowledgeable anglers to join our crew. We are the most trusted information hub for all things sport fishing, and we built that reputation on the back of real, hard-won expertise from anglers who have put in their time on the water.
If you’re a great writer with a deep love and respect for the sport, we want to hear from you.
What We’re Looking For (Our Guiding Principles)
We have high standards, but they’re simple. We’re looking for content that is:
- Authentic & Expert-Driven: We want your unique perspective, your real stories, and your hard-won knowledge. Our readers come to us for advice they can’t get anywhere else. Show them something real.
- 100% Original: Your submission must be written by you and not published anywhere else, now or in the future. We don’t accept republished work, as it harms the SEO of both our sites.
- For Every Angler: Our audience ranges from first-timers to seasoned tournament pros. Your writing should be clear, engaging, and accessible to all skill levels, avoiding overly technical jargon without talking down to the reader.
- Visually Stunning: Great fishing stories are best told with great photos and videos. We give priority to submissions that include high-quality, original images. If you use data or a quote from another source, you must cite and link to it.
How It Works (Our Process)
Our process is straightforward and designed to set you up for success.
- The Introduction: It all starts with an email. Send a message using the form below to start the conversation. Tell us about your fishing background, what you love to fish for, and include a link to your blog or previously published work.
- The Topic: Send us a few topic ideas you’re passionate about. Based on your expertise and our content calendar, we’ll work with you to land on the perfect subject.
- The Agreement: We’ll ask you to sign our standard Contributor Agreement. This is a simple formality that protects both you and us. We cannot schedule your article for publication until we have a signed agreement on file.
- The Draft: Please prepare your draft in a Google Doc. When it’s ready, email the link to us with sharing permissions set to “anyone with the link can edit.”
- The Final Polish: Our professional editors will take it from there. They will proof your post for clarity, style, and grammar. They will also optimize it for SEO and format it for our site.

A Note on Our Revenue Model
SportFishing.com is a reader-supported site that is funded through affiliate links. To maintain transparency with our audience and fund our work, our editorial team will add relevant, trusted affiliate links to products within the content where appropriate. We do not accept submissions that are primarily product reviews or contain contributor-placed affiliate links. Our commitment is to the reader first; we only recommend gear we believe in.
Submission Guidelines & What You Get
- Author Bio: Every contributor gets a dedicated author bio at the end of the post, including a headshot. This is your space to tell our readers about yourself.
- Link Policy: You are welcome to include one (1) link to your personal blog homepage, business website, or social media profile in your bio. You may also include one (1) relevant, pre-approved contextual link to an article on your own site within the body of the post.
- Sharing: We encourage you to share your published article from SportFishing.com far and wide across your social media channels!
The Fine Print
SportFishing.com reserves the right to:
- Edit and adapt your contributed content for tone, style, and length, and to update it in the future for accuracy.
- Reject any submission that does not meet our quality standards or align with our company values.
- Use your contributed content in promotional materials, including on our social media channels.
- Please note that contributing content does not create any partnership, joint venture, or employee relationship. All writers work with us on a freelance, contributor basis.
We look forward to hearing from you.
